1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 Apologies were received from Hefin David MS, Lee Waters MS substituted for Hefin for items 1 to item 6. Vaughan Gething MS sent his apologies for items 1 to item 6, there was no substitute for Vaughan.
1.3 The Chair thanked Jack Sargeant for all his work on the Committee and wished him well in his new role.
1.3 Under Standing Order 17.24A Cefin Cambell
MS declared an interest as he was part of the development of Welsh
Language and Education (Wales) Bill.
2.1 The motion was agreed.
3.1 The Committee agreed the approach to
scrutinising the Welsh Government Draft Budget.
4.1 The Committee heard evidence from the
Commissioner.
5.1 The Committee heard evidence from
Professor Enlli Thomas and Professor Gwenno Ffrancon.
6.1 The Committee heard evidence from Mudiad Meithrin and CYDAG.
6.2 Mudiad Meithrin agreed to provide further
information on the exclusion of private schools in the Bill.
7.1 The Chair welcomed Vaughan Gething to the Committee.
7.2 The Committee heard evidence from
Cymdeithas yr Iaith Education Group, Dyfodol i’r Iaith and
Mentrau Iaith Cymru.
8.1 The papers were noted.
9.1 The Committee considered the evidence it had heard in the previous evidence sessions.
